International Web Links

The web-sites of the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) display statistical information on various countries f the world. In turn, the United Nations site has links to the databases of the various organizations. 

To obtain information on Latin America, one can also visit the websites of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) and the Organization of American States (OAS). The web-page of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OCDE) also provides information on various economies as well as education, health issues, public management and other issues. The Bank for International Settlements and the Center for Monetary Studies on Latin America also contains statistical information, studies and publications on monetary issues in Latin America.

The web-site of the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) contains not only diverse studies on economic issues but also links to other data bases. “Resources for Economists on the Internet” is another reliable source of information available on the internet. Also, the magazine “The Economist”, the Wall Street Journal and the Security Exchange Commission of the United States provide interesting information on economics and finance.

 Web Links in Peru

The official website of the Peruvian Government contains information and links to various public entities; it also provides information about the diverse sectors of the economy, society and Peruvian culture. The National Institute of Statistics and Information (INEI), compiles processes and publishes economic and social statistics of Peru. In their homepage one may also find information about national tax expenditure as well as download information from national household surveys, demography and public health issues. 

One of the main sources of information is the Ministry of Economics and Finance (MEF), it contains information on finances and production, prices, employment, international business, foreign debt as well as links to statistics and information on a variety of public issues. The site of the Central Reserve Bank of Peru displays information on economic policies and also presents statistics on the national economy. In addition to this another interesting link on macroeconomics is the discussion forum MacroPeru, which was initiated by the members of the CIES Macroeconomic Policy Network. Also, another interesting link is the Superintendence of Banking and Insurance Companies (SBS) which supervises the financial sector in Peru. We should also mention The National Institute of Consumer Defense and Copyright Protection (INDECOPI), which ensures and supervises businesses transactions in the Peruvian economy.

Finally ,other websites worth mentioning are Cholonautas, which promotes the use of the internet among social science students in Peru, and also the homepage of Forosalud, the first initiative of Peruvian civil society in health policy.
