1.- Research and Evaluation:
CIES' fundamental activity is to develop and
conduct research on the most important problems and critical issues
of Peru’s economy and society, and to evaluate policies, programs,
or projects aiming at overcoming such barriers to development. Priority
topics are:
- Poverty, gender and quality of life.
- Employment, income distribution and social
policy.
- Public Education: equity and quality issues
- The environment and natural resources
- Health reform and human rights
- Macroeconomic stability.
- Productivity and sectoral policies.
- Relations between Peru and the global economy.
- Structural reforms, investment and growth.
- Decentralization and State Reform.
The Consortium privileges competitiveness and
excellence when allocating research funding and favors research
through networks with user participation and a cross-disciplinary
approach.

CIES promotes courses, assistantships, advisories
and other activities to update knowledge on economic and social
research models, methods and techniques, with the purpose of strengthening
the analytical capabilities of member institutions.
